Background

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) donated some of their codes and standards, amounting approximately $25,000 to the National Library through Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES). IES played an important role as a facilitator in linking ASME and the National Library. During their meeting with ASME in 2007, IES proposed that a set of standards be donated to the National Library for the public’s benefit, especially the Singapore engineers.
