Introduction
Chng Seok Tin (b. 6 October 1946, Singapore -) pursued her art studies in Singapore, UK, France and USA, from 1971 to 1985. For a decade, since 1986 she taught tertiary level printmaking and studio drawing. Between 1977 to 2007, she had held over 25 solo and 90 group exhibitions. Chng's oeuvre occupies a pivotal place in modern printmaking practice in Singapore. Her art practice extends to drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, photography, sculpture and installation works. Chng's works are premised on themes of nature and the human condition. Following her visual impairment in 1988; Chng had turned to creating more sculptural and mixed media works. For her relentless spirit and contributions to the arts, she was awarded Woman of the Year 2001 by Her World magazine. In 2005, Chng was conferred the Cultural Medallion.
