Introduction
Dr Wong Meng Voon (b. 27 July 1937, Malaysia -), a renowned writer and scholar, was the first recipient of the Cultural Medallion in Chinese literature in 1981. One of the most prolific Chinese writers and editors in Singapore, Wong was also active in promoting literary writing and creation as the president of the Singapore Association of Writers for almost twenty years. Wong’s efforts in promoting the micro novel (or mini-fiction) also helped to place Singapore on the world literary map. Currently, he is the Honorary President of the Singapore Association of Writers and also the Charter President of the World Chinese Micro Fiction Research Association.
