Summary
Migration is the movement of groups of people from one region to another, resulting in settlement in a new location. In earliest times, the migrations of peoples were tied in with the hunting and gathering of food.
Hor Y. Y. (2006) in her article "7 reasons why you should migrate to Singapore" stated that various reasons why people migrate to Singapore: safe and secure political environment; government policy that attract foreign talents; peaceful environment with less no natural disasters, such as earthquakes, typhoons, tornadoes and winter coldness; strong law enforcements that protects the country from protests, strikes and riots; huge employment opportunity and networking for both businesses and jobseekers; good geographical location that attract many big and small organisations to set up bases here; secure immigration rules that allows anyone obtains the necessary passes or documents; good land transportation system such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) trains, buses and cabs/taxis help peoples travel speedily; high quality education system, universities, colleges and polytechnics that caters to all students and and finally subsidies not free healthcare sytem like NHS in UK.
