Introduction

Design thinking is a problem-solving methodology used by designers to create the Next Big Thing: be it future products, services and even experiences. Successful design thinkers:

A. Research their Consumers

B. Collaborate with them

C. Experiment and Prototype (Fast)

D. Analyze and Strategize, Business-Wise

E.  Communicate their Concepts (Visually)         (Lockwood, 2010, p. xi-xii)

Design thinking involves balancing the brain (analytical thinking) and the heart (intuitive, creative instinct), using the abductive logic of "what might be" (Martin, 2009, p.6-27). And it's not just for designers, either. Design thinking is now one of the trendiest ways for organizational leaders to revamp their entire business model - to improve structure and processes, jumpstart business innovation and create competitive advantage for their companies.

But how does design thinking look like in reality? Who has succeeded and how did they do it? Click on the tabs above to explore the various case studies and resources on this topic. They are either available on the web or at the National Library, Singapore.
