Introduction

[Suzhou Industrial Park Exhibition]Adapting Singapore's Experience - Commemorating Suzhou Industrial Park's 15th Anniversary

Adapting Singapore’s Experience

- Commemorating the 15th anniversary of Suzhou Industrial Park

The Singapore and Chinese Governments signed the historical agreement on 26 February 1994 to jointly develop the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), the single largest cooperation project between the two countries. The park is more than just a commercial venture; it is the vehicle through which Singapore uses to share its developmental experience with China and serves as a platform for both countries to learn from each other as officials work together to develop the park, adapting relevant Singapore policies to suit local conditions.

Over the years, SIP has emerged as one of the most competitive economic development zones in China. It is now representative of the success China has achieved in its opening up and reforms.

Now, while both countries celebrate the 15th anniversary of Suzhou Industrial Park, it is also important to take a step back and look at how the transfer of knowledge and expertise has taken place between the two countries. Hence, the National Library of Singapore hopes that via this exhibition and the use of our resources, our patrons will be able to understand more about how Singapore’s experience was adapted in SIP and in doing so, learn more about China.
